The Father
Dad, formally titled
The Father is a Christian theological title for God, the first person of the Trinity.
In trinitarian doctrine, the Father is distinct from the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit, yet shares one divine essence with them.
Our Father, who art in heaven.
The term emphasizes God's paternal relationship to humanity and to Christ specifically.
Outside theology, the Father may designate a founding or originating figure: George Washington is the Father of his country.
