Statler
Pioneering lodging entrepreneur
Statler is one half of Statler and Waldorf, the two elderly hecklers who sit in the balcony on *The Muppet Show*, offering sardonic commentary on the performances below.
The name has become shorthand for a cranky critic who mocks from the sidelines: Every office has its Statler, ready to tear down any new idea.
Statler is also a hotel brand name.
