Shay
Geared logging locomotive
Shay is a given name used for both males and females, derived from the Irish name Séaghdha or as a variant spelling of Shea.
It can also be a surname.
In older or dialectal use, shay is a back-formation from chaise, referring to a light, two-wheeled horse-drawn carriage—a usage now rarely encountered outside historical contexts.
We took a shay through the countryside.
