Semtex
Malleable military explosive
Semtex is a plastic explosive developed in Czechoslovakia, named after the town Semtín where it was manufactured.
Pliable like clay, it became notorious for terrorist bombings in the 1980s and 1990s, including the Lockerbie aircraft bombing.
The name now evokes any powerful, easily concealed explosive: They found traces of Semtex in the wreckage.
