Ripple is a financial technology company and the name of its associated cryptocurrency platform and digital payment protocol, designed for fast international money transfers.
The native cryptocurrency is called XRP, though people often call it Ripple informally: Banks are testing Ripple for cross-border payments. (Lowercase ripple means small spreading waves.)
