Prince Hal
Prince Hal is the young Prince Henry in Shakespeare's history plays, particularly *Henry IV* Parts 1 and 2.
He spends his youth carousing with Falstaff in taverns before reforming to become the warrior-king Henry V.
The name has become shorthand for a dissolute young man who matures into responsibility: He's in his Prince Hal phase—hopefully the reformation comes before he inherits the company.
