Platonic solids
Five regular polyhedra
Platonic solids are the five three-dimensional shapes whose faces are identical regular polygons meeting at identical vertices: the tetrahedron (4 triangular faces), cube (6 square faces), octahedron (8 triangular faces), dodecahedron (12 pentagonal faces), and icosahedron (20 triangular faces).
Named for Plato, who associated them with the classical elements in his cosmology.
Mathematicians have proven no other convex polyhedra meet these criteria.
