Land of Lincoln
Chicago's home state
Land of Lincoln is a nickname for the U.S. state of Illinois, where Abraham Lincoln lived as an adult, practiced law, and launched his political career before becoming the sixteenth president.
The phrase appears on Illinois license plates and in official state branding.
Though Lincoln was born in Kentucky and spent part of his childhood in Indiana, Illinois claims the strongest association with his legacy.
