June beetles

Early summer insects

June beetles are large brown or black beetles that emerge in early summer, drawn to lights at night.

They're clumsy fliers, often heard bumping against screens and windows.

The fat white larvae, called grubs, live underground and feed on grass roots, making them lawn pests.

Also called June bugs.
