John le Carre
John le Carré is the pen name of British novelist David Cornwell, who wrote espionage fiction drawing on his experience in British intelligence.
His novels—including *Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy* and *The Spy Who Came in from the Cold*—depicted Cold War spycraft with moral ambiguity and bureaucratic realism, rejecting the glamour of James Bond for a grayer, more cynical vision.
The name is sometimes spelled without the accent: John le Carre.
