IRS forms

Annual filing papers

IRS forms are the official documents used to report income, calculate taxes, and file returns with the Internal Revenue Service.

The most common is Form 1040, the standard individual income tax return.

Other forms handle specific situations: W-2s report wages, 1099s report other income, Schedule C covers self-employment.
