Hush Little Baby

Hush Little Baby is a traditional American lullaby in which a parent promises a child a series of gifts—typically a mockingbird, a diamond ring, a looking glass, and so on—each conditional on the previous one failing to satisfy.

The song's structure of escalating promises has made it a template for parody and adaptation.
