HB pencil
Middle-grade writing stick
An HB pencil is a pencil with medium-hard graphite, sitting at the center of the hardness scale between hard (H) and black (B) grades.
The standard writing pencil for general use—not too light, not too smudgy.
In the American system, HB corresponds to a #2 pencil, the kind required for standardized tests.
