French braiding

Woven hair technique

French braiding is a technique of weaving three strands of hair by gradually incorporating new sections from each side as you work down the head.

Unlike a regular braid that hangs free, a French braid lies flat against the scalp: She French braided her daughter's hair before soccer practice.

The technique applies to rope, bread dough, and other pliable materials.
