February 2nd

Candlemas in America

February 2nd is the second day of February.

In the United States, it is Groundhog Day, when a groundhog's emergence from its burrow supposedly predicts the remaining length of winter—if it sees its shadow, six more weeks of cold.

In Christian tradition, the date is Candlemas, marking the presentation of Jesus at the temple.
