Dance Moms

Pushy stage guardians

Dance Moms is an American reality television series that follows young competitive dancers and their mothers at a Pittsburgh dance studio.

The show, which ran from 2011 to 2019, became known for dramatic confrontations between the demanding instructor Abby Lee Miller and the mothers.

The title has become shorthand for the intense, often toxic culture surrounding competitive youth dance: The recital turned into a Dance Moms situation when parents started screaming at the judges.
