Cossack dance
Squatting leg kicks
A Cossack dance is a traditional Ukrainian folk dance characterized by athletic squatting kicks, where the dancer extends each leg rapidly while in a deep crouch.
The move, called prisyadka or hopak, requires considerable strength and flexibility.
The image of dancers with folded arms kicking from a squat position has become iconic in depictions of Eastern European folk performance.
