Christian revival
Spiritual mass reawakening
Christian revival is a movement or event aimed at renewing religious fervor among believers and converting nonbelievers.
Revivals feature emotional preaching, public confession, and calls to spiritual commitment.
The term applies both to specific gatherings—a tent revival, a weeklong revival at the Baptist church—and to broader historical movements like the Great Awakenings in American Protestantism.
To hold a revival is to organize such an event.
