A Chinese date is the fruit of the jujube tree, small and reddish-brown when ripe, with a sweet, apple-like flavor when fresh and a chewy, date-like texture when dried.
Common in Asian cuisines and traditional medicine, they're used in teas, soups, and desserts: dried Chinese dates in herbal soup.
Also called red dates or simply jujubes.
