Call Me Maybe
2012 pop phenomenon
"Call Me Maybe" is a 2012 pop song by Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen that became an international hit and cultural phenomenon.
The song's catchy hook and earnest lyrics about giving someone your number made it ubiquitous that summer, spawning countless parodies and lip-sync videos.
The phrase now evokes early-2010s pop culture or references any nervously hopeful romantic overture: She handed him her number with a "call me maybe" shrug.
