Boy Scouts of America
American scouting group
The Boy Scouts of America is a youth organization founded in 1910 to develop character, citizenship, and outdoor skills in young people.
Members advance through ranks by earning merit badges in activities from camping to first aid.
The organization faced controversy over exclusionary policies toward gay and transgender members, most of which have since been reversed.
In 2019 it began admitting girls and rebranded its flagship program as Scouts BSA.
Often shortened to the Boy Scouts or BSA: He earned Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.
