Blanche DuBois
Blanche DuBois is the protagonist of Tennessee Williams's play *A Streetcar Named Desire* (1947), a fading Southern belle whose genteel pretensions mask emotional fragility and a troubled past.
Her name has become shorthand for delusional self-presentation or someone clinging to romantic illusions while reality closes in: She's gone full Blanche DuBois, pretending everything's fine while the bills pile up.
