zone 2
Inner suburban area
Zone 2 refers to a level of exercise intensity where the heart rate stays at roughly 60-70% of maximum—sustainable for long periods and often called the "fat-burning zone." Athletes use zone 2 training to build aerobic endurance without exhausting themselves: I did an easy zone 2 run this morning.
The term comes from heart rate training systems that divide effort into numbered zones.
