yours sincerely
Formal letter ending
Yours sincerely is a conventional closing for formal letters, placed before the signature.
British convention reserves it for letters where the recipient's name is known, using "yours faithfully" when addressing someone anonymous.
American English makes no such distinction, and "sincerely" alone now dominates: Sincerely, Margaret Chen.
