world's fastest man
Top human sprinter
World's fastest man is a title given to whoever holds the record in the 100-meter sprint, track and field's signature event.
The phrase appears in sports coverage and as a general honorific: Usain Bolt was the world's fastest man for over a decade.
It sometimes applies more loosely to anyone dominant in short-distance running.
