wolf-whistle

Ogler's shrill signal

A wolf-whistle is a distinctive two-note whistle—rising then falling—directed at someone found sexually attractive, typically by a man at a woman passing on the street.

The term evokes the cartoon wolf whose eyes pop out and tongue unrolls at the sight of a pretty girl.

Once considered flattering by some, it's now widely regarded as harassment.

As a verb: He wolf-whistled at her from the construction site.
