A winning round is a round of competition in which a participant achieves victory, often the decisive one that secures overall success: She dominated the winning round to claim the championship.
In games with multiple rounds, the winning round is whichever round produces a winner—sometimes the final round, sometimes an earlier knockout.
The phrase can also describe a round of drinks bought in celebration of a win.
