willow baskets
Flexible branch crafts
Willow baskets are containers woven from the flexible branches of willow trees.
Basket-making from willow—also called wicker—is among the oldest crafts, producing everything from laundry hampers to decorative storage.
The pliable young shoots, called withies or osiers, are soaked to increase flexibility before weaving: She arranged dried flowers in a willow basket.
