white sheet
Blank bed cover
A white sheet is a sheet that is white—the most common color for bedding.
Figuratively, white sheets evoke ghosts (the classic Halloween costume) or the Ku Klux Klan, whose members wore white sheets as robes and hoods.
In medieval Christianity, standing in a white sheet was a form of public penance for sins.
