unoxygenated
Lacking vital gas
Unoxygenated describes blood or tissue that lacks oxygen or has had oxygen removed.
In physiology, unoxygenated blood flows through veins back to the heart and lungs, where it picks up fresh oxygen: The right side of the heart pumps unoxygenated blood to the lungs.
The opposite is oxygenated.
