unfranked
Lacking postal mark
Unfranked describes mail sent without a postage stamp or official mark that would allow it to pass free of charge.
In finance, particularly in Australian and British contexts, unfranked refers to dividends paid without attached tax credits: unfranked dividends are taxed at the shareholder's full rate.
The opposite is franked, meaning postage-paid or carrying tax credits already paid by the company.
