Not stretching enough
Underreaching is falling short of what you could achieve—aiming too low or failing to extend far enough.
The term appears in discussions of ambition and goal-setting: The proposal was criticized for underreaching, given the scale of the problem.
In horseback riding, underreaching describes a gait fault where the hind foot lands short of the front foot's print, the opposite of overreaching.
