underground club
Hidden music spot
An underground club is a venue or organization operating outside mainstream visibility, often without official permits or advertising.
The term usually refers to unlicensed nightclubs hosting electronic music, raves, or other gatherings in warehouses, basements, or other unconventional spaces: We found out about the underground club through word of mouth.
The secrecy may be practical—avoiding legal scrutiny—or cultural, preserving an outsider identity against commercialization.
