unappointed
Lacking official selection
Unappointed describes a position or role that remains unfilled, with no one having been selected or designated to occupy it.
An unappointed seat on the board awaits someone to be named to it.
The word can also characterize a person who has not received an appointment: Several unappointed candidates withdrew their names from consideration.
Less commonly, unappointed means not scheduled or arranged, as in an unappointed meeting.
