tray ceilings
Inverted ceiling box
Tray ceilings are recessed ceilings with a raised border, creating the inverted shape of a serving tray.
The center portion sits higher than the outer edges, adding architectural dimension to a room.
Often featured in dining rooms, bedrooms, and formal living spaces, tray ceilings may incorporate decorative molding or lighting along the recessed ledge: The contractor suggested a tray ceiling to make the master bedroom feel more spacious.
