trail grooming
Smoothing ski runs
Trail grooming is the maintenance of outdoor paths, particularly ski trails and snowmobile routes, to create optimal surface conditions.
In winter sports, grooming typically involves using specialized machines to pack, smooth, and texture snow, creating corduroy-like patterns for skiing or flat surfaces for snowmobiles.
Summer trail grooming may include clearing debris, leveling surfaces, and maintaining drainage.
The resort grooms its cross-country trails every morning before dawn.
