traffic citations
Fines for speeding
Traffic citations are official notices issued by law enforcement for violations of traffic laws—speeding, running red lights, illegal parking, expired registration.
A citation may require payment of a fine or a court appearance.
The term is more formal than *ticket*, which means the same thing: I got a traffic citation for making an illegal U-turn.
