toothbrush bristles
Oral hygiene filaments
Toothbrush bristles are the small fibers attached to the head of a toothbrush that do the actual cleaning.
They may be natural (traditionally boar hair) or synthetic (usually nylon), and vary in stiffness from soft to hard.
Dentists generally recommend soft bristles to avoid damaging enamel and gums.
The bristles on my toothbrush are starting to fray.
