throwing in
Adding for free
Throwing in is adding something extra, often as a bonus or sweetener to a deal: The dealer threw in floor mats with the car.
It can also mean contributing casually to a group effort: Everyone's throwing in a few dollars for the gift.
To throw in the towel is to give up, from boxing corners surrendering by tossing a towel into the ring.
