thigh-slapping
Causing raucous laughter
Thigh-slapping describes humor so broad and hearty it might make someone slap their thigh in laughter—the physical gesture of old-fashioned, unsophisticated amusement.
The term often carries a hint of derision, suggesting comedy that's obvious or corny rather than subtle: a thigh-slapping farce, thigh-slapping jokes about mothers-in-law.
