thematic design
Concept-driven visual scheme
Thematic design is the practice of organizing creative work around a central theme or concept.
In interior design, a thematic approach might unify a room through a nautical or mid-century modern motif.
In game design, thematic design ensures mechanics reinforce the story or setting: The survival mechanics support the game's thematic design of isolation and scarcity.
The term appears across fields from architecture to curriculum planning.
