the Keys

Southern Florida archipelago

The Keys refers to the Florida Keys, a chain of tropical islands curving southwest from the southern tip of Florida.

The archipelago stretches about 120 miles and includes Key Largo, Islamorada, and Key West, connected by the Overseas Highway.

We're driving down to the Keys for the weekend.

The term evokes laid-back beach culture, fishing, and escape from mainland life.
