the Fifth Beatle
Unofficial fourth member
The Fifth Beatle is anyone considered an unofficial or honorary member of the Beatles beyond John, Paul, George, and Ringo.
The title has been applied to manager Brian Epstein, producer George Martin, bassist Stuart Sutcliffe, and drummer Pete Best, among others.
More broadly, it describes someone closely associated with a famous group without being an official member: He was the fifth Beatle of that comedy troupe.
