teaser rates
Temporary low offers
Teaser rates are introductory interest rates set artificially low to attract borrowers or investors, typically on credit cards, adjustable-rate mortgages, or savings accounts.
After a promotional period—often six months to a year—the rate increases, sometimes dramatically: The mortgage seemed affordable until the teaser rate expired and payments doubled.
The term carries a hint of warning: what teases you in may trap you later.
