sweep hand
Seconds indicator rotating
A sweep hand is the second hand on a clock or watch—the one that moves continuously around the dial, appearing to sweep rather than tick.
The term distinguishes it from hands that advance in discrete jumps.
The sweep hand made its smooth circuit around the watch face.
