subversiveness

Quality of destabilizing

Subversiveness is the quality of seeking to undermine or overthrow established systems, authority, or conventions.

The term can describe political activity aimed at destabilizing governments, but more often applies to art, ideas, or humor that challenges social norms: The subversiveness of her comedy made network executives nervous.

Unlike mere rebellion, subversiveness implies working from within or beneath rather than direct confrontation.
