Stretched ears are earlobes that have been gradually enlarged to accommodate larger gauge jewelry, achieved by inserting progressively wider plugs or tunnels over time.
The practice appears across many cultures historically and has become common in contemporary body modification: She's been stretching her ears for two years and is up to half an inch.
