spectator event
Watched athletic contest
A spectator event is an activity designed to be watched rather than participated in—sports games, concerts, parades, air shows.
The term distinguishes entertainment you observe from activities you do yourself: The marathon is both a participatory race and a spectator event for thousands lining the route.
