snubs

Deliberately cuts off

Snubs are deliberate slights or acts of ignoring someone, often to show disapproval or assert social superiority.

To snub is to treat someone with disdain by refusing to acknowledge them or pointedly excluding them: She snubbed him at the party by walking right past without a word.

The word also describes a short, turned-up nose shape, and in nautical contexts, to snub a rope is to check its movement suddenly by wrapping it around a post.
