smurf account
Hidden skill alt
A smurf account is a secondary account created by an experienced player in online gaming, typically to compete against less skilled opponents.
The term comes from early online gaming when skilled players used "smurf" pseudonyms to disguise their abilities.
Players create smurf accounts for various reasons: to play with lower-ranked friends, to experience easier matches, or to avoid recognition.
The practice is controversial because it disrupts fair matchmaking.
He's clearly on a smurf account—no one at this rank plays that well.
